Weekly Reading Response #5

Book: Tweak
Author: Nic Sheff
Pages read: 90-100

In my book I'm finding myself predicting pretty much everything. And noticing they were all accurate, since he is a recovering addict, all the things that I'm reading I've read before in other books because I've read books about drugs before. And a lot of the same things happen in both. I'm glad to hear he wrote another book after Tweak. I think I might start reading that one after. I would also like to read the one his dad wrote. I think it would be interesting I read that coming from his perspective, since it was written around the same time as tweak. I think it would be really interesting to read about that because you always see people writing books about being an addict and relapsing and the struggle of the process. But you never her about someone in their family writing about the struggles. I'm starting to look into the so what a little more. I'm trying to figure out why the main purpose of the book is. I've came to the conclusion that its about how in life everyone makes mistakes, some people more than others. But despite that , in the end everything happens for a reason. Ad everything has a purpose. Right now on my book that's what I'm thinking the so what is. I think it might change the more I read into it. I think Nic's dads book will differ alot from Nic's since its from his perspective. And it's also two perspectives looking down on the same situation. I think the dads will be more about how he struggles and how the whole family as a whole struggles. We're as tweak is about him doing drugs ad him relapsing and his own personal struggles.

Newspaper Blackout Poetry

This is my newspaper blackout poetry. I took pages from the book I am currently reading , Tweak. I photocopied certain pages and found little poems between them and than sharpied out he rest of the words. The reason I chose to pick pages from my book is because I wanted it to go with the theme depression, being confused and feeling unwanted. I thought my book fit that theme perfectly.

Blogging Fieldtrip

Comment#1:

The first comment I posted was on Megan's blog. I like the personal additions she added. I feel by looking at her blog you can get a sense of who she is you can tell alot of things by looking on her blog. I also really liked her 6 word memoirs I thought they were very appealing and you can also get a sense of who she is by reading those also.

Comment#2:

The second comment I have is for Taylor's blog. I thought her blog was very unique. She has alot of personal additions that were a very good idea and some that I never would have even thought of. I really like how she picked to have a "Quote of the Week" and "Album of the Week". You can tell that she keeps up with her blog and updates it regularly. I also really liked the post about light painting, I thought that was super cool. I also think her blog was very creative.

Interview with Nic & David Sheff : Personal Addition

I found this on YouTube after i remember hearing that the book Tweak written by Nic Sheff was actually about Nic. I think its interesting hearing him actually talk about his experiences and his life now. Not only that  but I think its especially interesting that his dad was also in the interview. By having his dad in the interview i think it was a good idea. I think it was a good idea because it gave us all a bit of his perception. I know he wrote a book but i still think it is very interesting to hear them talk about their experiences together.

If that does not work here's the link to the video:

Weekly Reading Response #4

Find drugs is an app like Find Friends. It connects to the characters because he is always trying to find drugs and he always needs more hook ups. So this app shows where all his local drug dealers are. Instead of the regular app that just shows where your friends are.

Kookbook is an app just like Cookbook except Cookbook is an app that just gives you recipes for food. When this app is recipes on drugs and how to make certain drugs in the book it seems like he already knows so maybe this app could have been used by him.

Jams is an app just for music. He describes lots of different kinds of music in the book, and every song has a meaning. I thought Jams was a good word because it has been a word choice in the book that he has used instead of music.

Drug$ is an app that I made up that I thought would fit really well there's no app that this is really supposed to be. It's an app that shows you the price of drugs for the amount of drugs you get. The main character in my book, Nic, he's rapidly running out of money so he's always making sure e knows the price.

Mainlines is just like contacts it has favorites and recent calls. I chose Mainlines because he only had a few people he really talks to that's why I put main in the name because there are only a few people he calls and that call him.

Drugminders is an app like reminders, which is supposed to remind you important dates and times. This app is pretty much exactly like that instead it just reminds you in this case when your supposed to go drop off and pick up drugs. I feel like this app would definitely be very useful in Nic's case.

Wikidrugs is an app like Wikipedia but instead of telling you anything you would Ike to know its only about drugs. I picked this app because he does alot of drugs so I thought he would have something like this.

Alphabet drugs is an app that names every single drug starting from the letter A to Z. I picked this because he does so many drugs that he would need to know the names of all of them.

I didn't know what I could have changed about phone so I left it as is. I wanted to show how many missed calls he had ad how many people were trying to get a hold of him. Because I know if he had a phone he would definitely have to have at least 20 missed calls, if not more.

I chose to do G-Message instead of the regular message name because it stands for Gangster Message. Alot of the people he hangs out with talk like they are gangsters so I thought it would fit in well.

Secret Lair/Favorite

If I were to create my own personal secret lair I would have a beautiful beach house. There would be a deck where you could look out and see the whole ocean. I would have a hammock right outside on the porch. In the backyard there would be a fire pit with a few chairs surrounding it where me and my friends would hangout late at night , roast marshmallows and tell scary stories. The beach house would have a lot of colorful lights on it that you would see when it's dark. The house would have a room for all of my friends and family and or course my dog.

Picture I took from Mexico! Perfect example of what I would love my view to be from my secret lair!

This is my favorite because I think it fits well as a personal addition too. Not only does it say what I would like for my secret lair but I also think it says a lot about me as a person !
